Nankú
Turning challenges into meaningful places
Nanku is an oceanfront residence conceived as both a family retreat and a pioneering hospitality property in Costa de Oro, a remote area of Guanacaste now opening to international tourism and the long-stay rental market, including Airbnb.
-
In Coyote, a remote beach town in Guanacaste, there was no existing formal hospitality offer to attract digital nomads or long-term rentals. The opportunity was to create a residence that could serve as both a family retreat and a pioneering Airbnb property in the region.
-
ENNTRE designed Nanku, an oceanfront home with eight bedrooms, each facing the sea, on a narrow rectangular site between mountain and coast. The architectural concept was to open the mountain toward the ocean, creating a spatial sequence that moves from the private to the social, always framed by nature. The house was built with local materials and local craftsmanship, ensuring low impact and strong community involvement.
-
Nanku has become a reference point for sustainable tourism and place-based architecture: a home that offers simplicity, light, and a deep connection to nature, while generating new economic opportunities in Coyote and elevating Guanacaste’s coastal identity.
