El Canal
Turning challenges into meaningful places
In Grecia, Costa Rica, where land was both soil and legacy, a water canal shaped the story of a family. Today, that same canal guides the present and future of a new neighborhood: El Canal.
El Canal is everyday life in harmony with the landscape, an accessible, authentic place full of natural beauty, where the agricultural past transforms into an urban future.
-
An inherited coffee estate, divided among many heirs, needed to be reimagined as a cohesive and viable development. The opportunity lay in transforming this agricultural legacy into a mixed-use project that could bring identity and value to the growing town of Grecia.
-
ENNTRE designed a low-density masterplan that integrates retail, housing, and community amenities around a historic feature: the original irrigation canal. The canal became the organizing spine of the project, shaping pedestrian paths, landscaping, and social gathering spaces.
-
The result is an accessible, character-rich neighborhood where water, trees, and trails create a strong sense of place. La Argentina bridges agricultural heritage and urban living, offering a model of community-oriented development rooted in the landscape.
